What to Expect from a Level 1 Certification Course
Our Level 1 Certification will revolutionize the way you train personally and with your clients. This system will enable you to take your client’s movement quality and fitness to the next level. We’ll show you simple and effective ways to enhance mobility, body awareness, coordination, and strength with the combination of leverage, irradiation, articulation, and isometrics that will unlock the inhibited movements that prevent optimal function and health.
The Level 1 Certification is a two-day course that is primarily hands on. We keep the classes small (capped at 30) so everyone will have a chance to work with the instructor and ask questions. You’ll be learning the fundamental principles and movements that will give you a great foundation on which to build upon. Level-1 takes you through joint mobilization, stretching, strengthening, and positional isometrics. You’ll learn how to integrate these aspects into your one-on-one and group training sessions.
The class is about 20% lecture and 80% hands. Both training days will have two 5 minutes breaks and a one hour break for lunch (lunch not provided). It can be physically and neurologically demanding for some and we advise coming prepared to exert yourself, but our participants come in a wide range of ages and mobility levels. All our exercises and drills can be regressed or progressed to suit each individual’s fitness level. For physical preparation, we recommend watching or working through our Online Fundamentals Video Series to get familiar with our training regimen. This isn’t a requirement, only a recommendation and a great way to get acquainted with our system.
Level 1 is primarily focused on teaching instructors in all fields of fitness: Certified Personal Trainers (CPTs), Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, Doctors, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Yoga instructors, ect. However, anyone who is looking to improve their quality of life, overall fitness, and athleticism will benefit from taking this course.
Our system is designed to be used as a companion to any training modality, or as a stand alone program. Each trainer in the Stick Mobility family has their favorite method of training, whether it’s kettlebells, barbells, resistance bands, or body weight movements. Regardless of what modality you specialize in, Stick Mobility will blend seamlessly into your program and help make you and your clientele move better.
Level 1 Certification Process
Once you have finished the certification course, students must pass the written exam with no greater than 8 incorrect answers. The practical exam will be administered by the lead or assistant instructor. The student will be assigned a random exercise that they will coach a fellow student through. We are looking for the coach to comprehend and execute the formula of: joint range of motion + joint stability + neuromuscular control = mobility. Coaching elements will consist of: set up, execution, purpose, and the goal of the exercise. The student must also be able to show a regression and progression of the assigned movement. Instructors will be looking for competency in teaching the Stick Mobility system correctly. Passing of both the written and practical exams completes your certification process as a Level 1 Certified Stick Mobility Coach!
All attendees of the Level 1 Certification receive 3 complimentary sticks. The sticks can be picked up at the certification location or shipped to them early. Attendees are solely responsible for arranging the transportation of their sticks to and from the course and/or any associated costs incurred. Please see our FAQs for our recommendations for traveling with sticks.
What to Expect at a Level 2 Certification Course
The Level 2 Coaching Course is aimed at advancing and refining your Stick Mobility coaching skills and problem solving ability by diving deeper into the principles that were established in the Level 1 course. The course looks further into advanced concepts of leverage and stability, programming and implementation of Stick Mobility, and coaching development that will enhance your problem solving, communication, and adaptability.
You’ll learn the best practices for incorporating and enhancing various training modalities and equipment with the addition of Stick Mobility (barbells, kettlebells, bands, physio balls, etc.) and feedback techniques that will give your clients the best opportunity to learn movements, feel muscle activation, and acquire more body awareness. We’ll also show you different movement games to create a more fun, brain engaging and authentic movement variability.
Level 2 takes you through loading and recovery strategies, advanced Bow & Arrow techniques to teach multi-directional loading, and provides more progressions and regressions of exercises. It also covers dealing with torsion, building more sinew strength, and ways to strengthen the outer and inner ranges of movement.
Level 2 is a two-day course that is primarily hands on. We keep the classes small (capped at 30) so everyone will have a chance to work with the instructor and ask questions. The course is about 20% lecture and 80% hands. Both training days will have two 5 minutes breaks and a one hour break for lunch (lunch not provided).
Level 2 can be physically and neurologically demanding for some and we advise coming prepared to exert yourself, but our participants come in a wide variety of age and ability. All our exercises and drills can be regressed or progressed to suit each individual mobility level.
